125th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF NETAJI SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE                Date of issue : 23.02.2021 Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's ancestral house, situated at Matimandap Sahi in the pilgrim town of Puri, has been transformed into a museum. On February 12,2 021 Sangam Philatelic Club ,Prayagraj released a Dak Runner carried special cover and a cancellation on "GANDHI SMRITI VAHAN". Special cover was released by Chief guest Mr. Sunil Gupta, Director of Allahabad Museum and special guest Mr. Sanjay D. Akhade SSPos, Allahabad with club's president Mr. M.P. Singh, Secretary Mr. M.Gulrez and Mr. RamSaran AD2 Gandhi Smriti Vahan on which the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were taken to the Sangam on February 12,1948, is still preserved as a heritage in the Allahabad Museum.   DATE OF ISSUE- FEBRUARY 04,2021 ;PRICE - 30/                       CANCELLATION The Chauri - Chaura incident occurred at Chauri-Chaura in the Gorakhpur district of the United Province (present day Uttar Pradesh), in British India on February 04,1922, when a large group of protesters, participating in the Non-Cooperation Movement, clashed with police, who opened fire. In retaliation the demonstrators attacked and set fire to a police station. Mahatma Gandhi, who was strictly against violence, halted the Non-Cooperation Movement at national level on February 12,1922 as a direct result of this incident. A lawsuit against 225 people was registered by the then British Government. Due to skilful defence by Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya and other scholar advocates, 206 people were acquitted in this case.
