SPECIAL COVER ON GHANTA GHAR, GORAKHPUR, 12.02.2000 The main architect of "Kakori Case", Shri Ram Prasad Bismil, was tried in court on September 6,1925, alongwith 34 other accused, for looting the Government Treasury of Kakori, near Lucknow, and other anti-Government activities. The Trial began in the court of Sessions Judge, Mr. Hamilton, under Section 121/A,120/B and 369 of I.P.C. under first two sections others were punished with 'Kalapani', and under Section 369, Shri Bismil was awarded Capital Punishment. The Judgment was changed on December 19,1927 in Gorakhpur Jail. His body was hanged at Urdu Bazar Chowk for three days, this Ghanta Ghar has been constructed.
